THE HUMAN RACE
easily but they are not adept at magic. Humans are susceptible to fire and shock spells. They are, however, the only race that can be infected by the lycanthropy and vampirism viruses. They once worshiped only one goddess, the goddess Mariel, but have since adopted other races' faiths and beliefs. Many resent them for this, as they find it almost a crime to lose ones culture in favor of anothers. Most humans in Arcasius work in some sort of physical labor, including the military. Their sturdiness and quick learning makes it easier for them to work in those fields. The age of maturity for most humans is sixteen years old, and they often marry soon after.
VAMPIRISM
Like Lycanthropy, Vampirism can only be contracted by humans. Those infected with vampirism are not only affected during the full moon, but every day of their lives. Sunlight burns the skin, and if exposed for a prolonged amount of time, it eventually will drive the vampire into insanity, killing anything in sight. When first infected, a vampire will lose all blood within a few days. To survive, it must feed from anyone except another vampire. Vampires are viewed as leeches and are harshly discriminated against. Most of them are involved in illegal activity. The virus is often viewed as a blessing from the Child of Night, said to be the first vampire in existence. Cults of vampires exist but are only known to other vampires. Humans infected by the vampirism curse live for thousands of years. THE HUMAN RACE is not native to the country Arcasius. They are native, instead, to the island Hilius off of the southern coast of Mondrul, but the island has long been lost to the volcano thought dormant. Instead, the human race spread across the world, Arcasius just one of the many places they inhabit. They are known as a very sturdy people with the ability to live in many different climates and procreate with many different species beyond their own with little to no side effects. They are not known to reach heights above 6'7'' unless bred with a taller race. Their skin colors vary, as well as their hair and eyes. They build strength
LYCANTHROPY
Lycanthropy is a virus that only humans can contract. There is no cure except to personally kill the lycan that infected you. It is a virus that causes the infected to transform into an extremely large wolf during the full moon, when most magics are heightened. When transformed, it is extremely hard for one to control one's self. They turn vicious and violent and are known to kill their own families if they lose complete control of themselves. A lycan that does not join or make a pack with other lycans is more likely to lose control of itself. The more members in the pack, the more control you have. There are two villages over Arcasius that are filled only with lycan, but most prefer a more nomadic lifestyle. A human with lycanthropy can live hundreds of years. They are allergic to silver. THE ELVEN RACES
magic and sorcery, but also inventing, and they make up most of the famous inventors throughout the world. Their native land is in a civil war and many of the Dark Elves in Arcasius are refugees. The Wood Elves are the most commonly seen of the Elven races. They are noted for their short statures, but their skin varies as does their hair and eyes. They are woodland based and work well with animals. They can learn archery quicker than any other race, but most are of average intelligence. All Elves live for hundreds of years. Their age of maturity is twenty, but they do not usually marry until much later.
THE ELVEN RACE has three subcategories inside of it, but all have similar features, most notably their long, pointed ears. The High Elves' native land is Gylandriel to the north. They are noted for their tall statures and high cheekbones, and they most often have light hair. The High Elves do not usually marry another race beyond their own and are often prejudice against those who do. They make excellent scholars, as most think knowledge is power. The Dark Elves hail from Southern Isles, east of the country Heraldo. They most often have dark skin, often gray, but their hair varies from dark to light. Dark Elves are extremely adept with
THE MORDID RACE
the reception from others. However, most learn not to cause trouble, because they will most often be blamed sooner than a party of another race. Because of other races viewing them poorly, business owners and merchants do not fair well in Arcasius and most have to shut down shop. Most Mordid people turn to a life of crime simply so they can afford food and housing, but that doesn't help how they're viewed to others. Depending on the animal they represent, they can be good at different things. Wolves are better fighters, while cats are better thieves, et cetera. They have a shorter life expectancy than most races. Maturity is twelve.
THE MORDID RACE is named for their native land, Mordid. The country is often in war with another, or even themselves, so many Mordids are refugees or outlaws looking for safe havens. The race is not regarded well in most areas. Identified by their animal characteristics, such as horns, ears or tails, they are often seen as halfbreeds with animals, or second-class citizens. It is not common that they are met with friendliness by any race except perhaps the Wood Elves, who have kinship with animals in the first place. In their own country, those with animal characteristics are viewed normally, so new refugees are often confused and outraged by
THE DARJ'IN RACE
thieves or assassins. Even when thin, the Darj'in are surprisingly heavy and it makes it hard for them to move around undetected. Unknown by almost anyone else, however, the Darj'in do come from dragons, and possess the ability to speak to them, or to even transform into one for a short time. They risk, however, being killed when they transform, so it's uncommon that they ever do. They can live for hundreds of years, but their age of maturity is fairy young, at a mere fourteen. They are known not to marry just one person, but several partners. Monogamy is considered taboo in their tribes and villages. Interracial relationships are extremely disfavored.
THE DARJ'IN RACE has an unknown origin. It is assumed that they came from the dragons that once roamed the lands of Arcasius, and though it hasn't been proven, or disproven, they are affectionately named the Dragon Race. The Darj'in are not for mild climates, favoring, instead, the harsh cold of the mountains or the blistering heat of the desert. Their skin is extremely tough but oddly smooth. Their eyes are usually unnatural colors, such as red, purple, pink, gold, or pure black. They are an extremely strong race and like that to be known. They are often mercenaries or military personnel, but they are rarely anything that requires stealth, like
THE OASMIR RACE
they are not known to be pirates, thieves, assassins or anything of that sort. If in the military, they are often used as trackers or scouts, using what they know of the sands from their country to detect slight shifts in the paths around them. The Oasmir people keep to their own beliefs and worships, which they find in the stars. They generally stick to their own language, but have recently begun to immerse themselves more into the countries they live in, learning the languages and customs. The age of maturity for Oasmirs is eighteen years old. Their marriages are often arranged since childhood, but they do not marry until after eighteen.
THE OASMIR RACE comes from the eastern deserts of Oastrel, an extremely harsh climate that is not occasioned by many visitors, simply by merchants and trading ships. The Oasmir are well known for their dark hair, skin, and eyes. They are a peaceful race with no trouble interacting and breeding with other races, unless from the 'Chosen Family,' the royalty. Although very intelligent, the people are known most for their trading, and their tracking skills. As the country is not known to have wars of any kind, the Oasmir that are found outside of their country are simply traders, merchants, or adventurers. Few are known to be hostile, so
THE SIRUIEN RACE
that doesn't take well to pirates. The Siruien are excellent fishers, often catching prey with their own hands or with weapons and tools they carve from fish bones. They welcome sailors and merchants to their ports, but they are wary of adventurers, as they assume they will be thieves or pirates. The Siruien believe in twelve goddesses, most of the sea-based, that control order in the world. They tattoo themselves to honor the goddesses and wear few clothing to show these tattoos. The age of maturity is thirteen and they live for a normal span, approximately the same as a human's. It is still unknown where they came from, even by them.
THE SIRUIEN RACE is a race thought to come from the mating of human and merfolk. They have no distinct country of origin and they are not usually found inland in any country, if they are found outside of their connected cities off of the Arcasian coast line. They are a distinguishable race, with webbed fingers and toes, and semi-translucent skin. They are a tall race, about the same height as High Elves, and the two races are said to be on very good terms with one another, at least in general. Although the Siruiens have no actual country, they treat their cities based as such. They settle on rafts in the water and are protected by a vicious navy
